120. GRIT #29 - WES VASILE
- Healthy coping mechanisms
- Self-management tools
- Prioritising your own mental health
Wes Vasile is a business owner from Brisbane, running Trusted Pest management with brother, Tudor. When he isn't busy exterminating pests, Wes is also the founder of the Mental Awareness Foundation, a charity born out of tragedy making an incredibly positive impact on the lives of those affected by suicide.
The conversation in this episode centres largely around Wes' own journey navigating grief and tragedy, the healthy coping mechanisms that he implemented to get through that period, and the importance of prioritising ourselves and our own mental health in our daily lives before we can actually look after anyone or anything else.

ALL ABOUT WES
An avid yogie, park walker, pest controller and mental health advocate, Wes is known to his mates as Snorky!
While away in Mexico, Wes heard the news that his best mate, Christian had committed suicide on New Years Day 2011.
After returning home to Brisbane for the funeral in January, he remembers seeing another good friend David, who he shared a hug, tears and memories of a good mate with.
Not even three months later, David also took his own life. Wesley's next question - who's next?
Deciding enough was enough, Wes rallied together a bunch of passionate individuals and established the Mental Awareness Foundation and the annual Walk for Awareness both designed to bring people together in a comfortable environment where mental health could be discussed openly.
